dangerous, the world looked incredible, the shooting felt good, but the thing players kept talking about
wasn't a weapon or a boss. You could hear another raider nearby and have absolutely no idea what
was about to happen. Maybe he shoots you, maybe both of you slowly back away, maybe start talking,
fight an art machine together, trade something, and believe as strangers.
Or maybe he acts friendly and shoots you in the back at extraction.
That uncertainly turns normal matches into stories.
One player, only days after lunch, told a story about using Proximity Chat to convince
an enemy squad to help him get revenge on his toxic teammates.
Another player later described his first 30 to 40 hours as some of the most fun
he'd had in years.
For him it was the combination of dangerous art machines and unpredictable players that
made every fight feel different. And people noticed. Our creator sold more than 4 million copies in less than two weeks.
Its simpler account didn't immediately collapse after lunch either. It kept climbing until...

Player would eventually call it ABMM, Aggression-Based Matchmaking.
The simple version is this. The game looks at how you interact with other raiders.
If your playstyle ends heavily toward PvP, you're more likely to meet players who behave like you,
and if you usually avoid fights, you're more likely to meet people closer to that style.
Not guaranteed, not separate PvP and PvE servers, just an invisible push toward people who play
more like you, and on paper that actually makes sense. Imagine you're brand new,
you're still learning the maps, you probably don't want every single match to end because
a player with 500 hours hunted you across the map for fun, and that was basically inbox problem.
The studio later explained that it didn't want dedicated PvP players constantly steamrolling
raiders who weren't as interested in PvP.

which is fucking terrible for the game ABMM literally just means you're a

how often do you win it's just how often are you blast in a son of a bitch it's
completely different than SBN completely different
think predict what kind of person you were likely to meet at first players
weren't even completely sure the system existed people were testing
different accounts, comparing friendly and aggressive lobbies, and arguing over whether
their behavior actually changed matchmaking.
Then in early January, MPART CEO confirmed it, and once people knew it was real, some
players started thinking differently.
One rated post about APMM received nearly 2,000 upvotes.
The player said raids felt more predictable than they had around lunch.
But more importantly, he said he had become much more conscious about how he interacted
with strangers.
He wanted to mess around with people who are playing solo, but where is everyone that could
make his future matches more hostile when he played with his sister?
SBMM and ABMM are both bad and should not be normalized.

They don't prove every aggressive lobby was filled with cheaters, but in an extraction shooter, perception matters.

risks stop feeling exciting and it just feels pointless.
And there were the resets.
Our creators' expedition system was supposed to refresh progression
by allowing players to start again and earn permanent rewards.
Augustine's had the exact opposite reaction.
They didn't want to complete the same quests again,
rebuild the same things again,
unlock the same progression again,
and eventually embark listened.
In August, the studio announced players would be able
to keep their quest progress during future expeditions.
It also announced that expeditions themselves would be paused after the fifth one.
So Empire could make deeper changes to the system and address major player pain points.
But underneath the matchmaking, the cheating, the progression and the resets was another
problem.

The original plan was monthly updates, but in May MPark changed the plan.
The studio said the pressure of monthly release was limiting how impactful each update could be,
and that schedule wasn't sustainable.
Instead, major updates would become much larger, but arrive roughly twice per year.
But that might be better for our creators in the long run.
But imagine you're already seeing...
But again, they did this at the worst fucking time, man.
That's the problem.

It's like, it was like a bad time joke.
They would wait to tell the good jokes during a fucking funeral.
They would wait to make these announcements and these changes when the game was already
hemorrhaging players.
You cannot sit there and give multiple lax and basical updates, one after another, after
another, after another, and then finally, after some of the worst updates you've done, announce
we're going to be doing larger updates six months apart from each other.
They went from making every good decision all the way through, pre-alpha, alpha, beta,
into the game, first two months quality,
three months started getting slower, four, five months,
oh my gosh, six months, what the fuck is happening?
And then they make this decision
in the worst time possible.
When everyone started leaving the game
and people stopped playing it,
that's when they're like, oh, to all the people
not like Hutch and that are staying here
and that are trusting us,
we're gonna give you an update in six months.

every day, launch the game and continue to quest into play. The PVP is good but
the reason why your PVPing is for the lead axis, for the graphics cards, for
the wires, for the market, to make money and to keep progressing. Not to
fill your stash with bobcats, torrentes, and fucking stitchers with with kinetic
converters on it. But that's boring. Going into a room with one use that is
purple, opening the door, fighting the entire map for an item that if you die
with it's gonna lose value and or you lose it in general. Getting out of that
raid and being able to sell it for money, that is the exciting part. 100%
I'm not a PvE enjoyer, but the one thing I love about Tarkov and the reason why I keep going back is because I want to see
What's behind that fucking door? I want to go to customs opened up mark room and see a red key card on the ground
I want to go to labs loop black key and see the Bitcoin the intelligence and the Cardinal key
That is what's exciting. That is what is is that is what I want to figure out and want to do
you. And it keeps the game itself authentic. You fight people in different locations. You
can choose to go to a location like the top of damn towers and to fight someone for the
best loot on the map, or you can stay on the outskirts and fight people for the loose
loot and hope that you're lucky and you pull a good loot item, you know, and that's

mass of us, the majority of us are playing the game to try and survive from
the moment we get into the raid to the moment we get out of the raid with a
dash and a hint of PVP as well. That's the reality and I feel like that's
