In this video I will explain Marathon. Show you some cool resources to improve your gameplay
and knowledge of the universe. And dive into everything you need to know about the game
which you can play in just a couple of days.
Marathon is a game about visiting the lost colony of Tau Setti 4 and figuring out what
happened here.
This is set in the same universe from Bungie's 90s marathon games.
This had missions to colonize the Tau steady long ago on the UESC Marathon, but something
went terribly wrong.
The Marathon ship is still up in orbit, and now you take on the form of a synthetic body,
the line with factions, and solve the mystery.
In Marathon you play as a runner, a human consciousness printed into a new body, a biosynthetic
shell designed for dangerous extraction missions.
Here are different shells you can be printed into lore-wise, and each shell has different
capabilities.
So you get printed into a shell and then classified as a runner.
The current available runners are Destroyer, Vandal, Triage, Recon, Assassin, Thief, and
Rook.
In the game you can choose one of these to play as at a time.
Each of them comes with their own abilities, which I'll talk about in a bit.
Alongside the base characters who have abilities you also have course certain perks that allow you to deeply change your shells capabilities
implants universal stat boost and perks I still think these might be fun
Weapon mods change just because of the drone that can you wait for those weapons and gear to find out in the world
Tools for combat things like grenades collectibles and so on
So the idea is you pick a character to play that character has abilities then as you deploy to the planet loot more you can experiment with different bills and play styles depending on what you have in your inventory.
The character you choose is simply a base and bungee says it as you level up it'll be a little bit easier to get items that you've lost either purchasing them or acquiring them through different methods.

ground deploying a smoke field this negates fall damage from any height
opening exclusive assassin has stealth to trait to is shroud automatically
chemo when entering any smoke field invisibility persists briefly after
leaving that smoke the tactical is active camo pull a shroud of invisibility
over yourself. You can sprint and mantle while invisible, but faster movement increases visibility.
Healing, shooting, taking damage, and using abilities briefly reveals you.
An assassin's prime is Smoke Screen. Through a smoke disc that creates a line of smoke fields
in front of you on impact, works perfectly with the threat of instant invisibility.
So as you can assume assassin is the stealth ambush and disengagement character built for those assassins and your assassins and thieves

You receive a warning in your hut performing a finisher on a runner pings their crew
Yeah, there's a Rook have no abilities stalker protocol

Tray 2 allows Vandal to powerslide, a supercharged slide that travels much farther than a normal
sprint slide.
This also uses heat.
The tactical is Disruptor.
You transform your arm into a cannon and fire a high powered energy projectile that deals
damage and knocks back enemies.
This is excellent for forcing enemies out of cover.
And her prime is Overload.
Charge your movement systems reducing the heat buildup of movement abilities increase in movement speed and weapon dexterity
Vandal is all about mobility and disruption
She's a high-speed skirmisher that overwhelms enemies with movement chains and displacement tools
Ah a vandal and a destroyer aggressively pushing you might be pretty terrifying
And this one isn't in the beta, or the server slab.
Your tactical is a grapple.
You shoot a dart that unfolds into a propeller, pulling you to advantageous positions or safety.
And her prime is pretty cool.
It's a pickpocket drone.
Deploy a remote controlled butterfly drone that knocks loot out of players and AI.
That right there, if it's actually good, just in an extractor setting is hilarious.
I gotta try it.
If you're a loot goblin like Steelman from other players and the environment, thief
is an easy choice.
We next come to Triage, the more support role, whose first trait is battery overcharge.
Overcharge your gauntlets to enhance weapon performance.
Battery weapons specifically apply EMP effects when breaking enemy shields.
Trait 2 is shareware.
Allies with medic drones receive copies of consumables or heals that you use, enabling
remote team sustained. Oh, what? It's not like the, uh, deploy a drone buddy that hovers
over you or an ally providing healing and shields. But you can't use that on the yourself.
So, Triage is that classic support role, kind of like Lifeline. Oh, you can use it
yourself built to keep your squads alive revive down teammates and yes solos is
gonna be so interesting in this game because it's class-based then have the
free kit rook rook is the runner you use when you kind of want a more laid-back
run or you don't want to risk everything you have in your inventory rook has an
ability that allows you to blend into UESC forces and other AI so they
won't attack you oh these characters start with the base stats as seen on
this screen, for example, has higher agility. The characters start off with these levels and
you can modify them starting. They must shoot you if you shoot the robots. Those will be
temporary until you die and lose that implant. I'm still so I'm still so skeptical about
this inventory. In every extractor game, you have to spend at least 20% of your play
time in the inventory let's see let's see permanent seasonal maybe they changed
some of which won't be lost on death more on this in a bit but let's talk
about cores and implants cores are used on top of your character they usually
enhance an existing ability server slams in 13 minutes one o'clock
Maybe turning vandals double jump into a triple jump.
You can equip two cores at a time and they are character specific.
Bungie wants the best of these to feel like you're kinda cheating, feel absurdly strong.
There are different tiers with the gold or prestige ones being the highest.
So here's an example of some of those for Vandal Microjet Efficiency Package.
Gain an additional charge for your microjets that generates less heat.
For Thief, while not being piloted, your pickpocket drone periodically releases a pulse that pings
nearby hostiles.
And for Assassin, minus sites, aiming down sites for a short time, you become invisible
at the cost of heat.
I said these don't drop when you die. I wonder
Inplants can be used by any runner and give general stat boost and perks
Maybe oh they do speed jump height heat capacity or better tracking pinks
Those implants like I said are used for any character. The cores are character specific
You also got a lot of no-save pockets
This, weapons have rarities too, and there are 28 confirmed weapons in the game, across
railguns, SMGs, LMGs, precision rifles, sniper rifles, pistols, shotguns, there's a lot.
There's also mods that enhance the base weapons, getting you faster reload, better accuracy,
things like that.
There's six different types of grenades.
gadgets like claymores, bubble shields, and consumables like heels.
Marathon has three different maps at launch, the fourth added in season one.
Each map has its own character, its own dangers.
The maps have many nooks and crannies to hide and flank routes for you to take.
These will take you to different locations across that lost colony of Taosetty 4.
In terms of the loot you'll find on these maps, they range in rarity from basic grey
all the way up to gold, otherwise called...

Your inventory will show you how much value you are currently carrying.

So we have quests?
Maybe taking down a boss, looting an array station, or extracting with something specific.
These are basically many missions you choose. You can jump into a match freely not have any
plans, or pick up a contract to give you some incentive. Contracts are basically quests in this game.
Factions are the vendors you complete these quests for.
Factions hire runners to complete contracts, and if you please them, you'll earn reputation
and some other goodies. There are six factions, and they each prioritize different things.
Arachne is a death cult.
Nukaloric is an agricultural company.
Sekiguchi Genetics creates the shell bodies you inhabit.
Factions provide reputation and unlocks as you move up in their ranks.
They might give you specific gear like cosmetic items.
Or maybe if you complete a priority contract they allow you to purchase gold tier items.
again getting back into some of those bills you had previously much quicker sort of raising that restart ceiling
