Looking at this from a broader perspective of just like, so when they're saying that there's
going to be a ton of FF7 news this year, they're saying that there's going to be more remake
compilation, any of this kind of stuff, news than ever before in 2026.
Right, I get you. So why is that any different? Well, it's because they're actually launching
three different Final Fantasy campaigns, if not multiple games this year.
Let's start thinking about it. This game drops on June 3rd, which is a few days before Summer Games
Fest, which lines up exactly with an announcement right after Summer Games Fest. I mean, we
just got remade not that long ago on Switch and here we are, the promotional period for
Rebirth is right here. I'm with you, yeah, and that makes a lot of sense to me. So yeah,
it makes perfect sense that we're going to get a part three reveal, like a big reveal
of part three, the debut at Summer Games Fest.
I was in the same boat.
And then the price drop thing happened,
where as soon as February 9th,
they are now saying the game is going to permanently
be dropping in price for all the existing consoles
it's out on, not Xbox, because it's not out there yet,
still waiting, and that's at the launch.
So every single version of the game
is about to drop in price, right?
That isn't happening on the same date it debuts on Xbox and Nintendo.
That's not June 3rd, dude.
It's February 9th.

So that's a fascinating price drop.

of this game has all the other versions of said game
available on said platforms that are discounted
and you can play them right now

point, this is kind of like, oh, can the company stay afloat with their core franchises? Can this

work pretty well. Either way, at the end of my rant about what today tells us in terms
of what the future means, how the next week, how the next six months, five months are going
to effectively play out.
The longest running feelings that I have had is that, yeah,
dude, after the 30-year anniversary is literally
at the end of January in next year, genuinely feel
that game's coming out late January, sometimes February.
Like between late January to February,
I think the game is just launching in that time frame.
But if these announcements start happening, if this stuff is getting close to that potential reality,
if that state of play is announced, dude, right around a price drop, bro,

a lot of people were like, dude, this switch to footage of FF7 rebirth is fake. This shit
is fake. And I'm like, what? And a lot of people were going back and looking at the,
um, all of the trailers and shit. And they're like, Oh, uh, dude, this is PC footage. This
is PC footage. And I'm like, what? Like, how do you explain these conclusions? Not saying
that they're AI fake, more that squared and some points in the past, when there's switch
ports of certain games, they will use like PC footage and then drop it into a Switch version,
right? Like a Switch trailer. And all of a sudden that trailer, marketing teams just do this sometimes.
There's like confusion, it isn't direct, it isn't intended to be. The future sometimes fixes it,
where they're like, okay, now this is actually the right stuff, like this, this happens. So in
the, the, the story which started spinning earlier today was that, hey, you know,
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on Switch 2, it looks too good.
It looks way too good.
Like it should not look that good.

Because to me, I saw some telltale signs of it being upscaled, even though I'll be real.

with a battery attached to it. It's pulling some pretty insane visuals for what that system
is doing. If it's pulling resolutions close to what the PlayStation 5 was doing with its
performance mode but running at 30. That's crazy dude. People say like it looks blurry.
Yeah, did you play the PlayStation 5 version of the game? Like that shit just looked rough
until we got to PlayStation 5 Pro and subsequently the PC versions. It just looked really rough.
It always had looked rough. So PlayStation 5 Pro, you mean I mean we had you had to buy a PS5 Pro
to make FF7 look good on PS5, or else you just ran the game at 30, you know, and even at 30 it had
some frame timing issues. Anyway, um, so I don't think they're, I don't think they're bullshitting
simply because, um, Hamaguchi sort of had some receipts and it looked like already people were
talking about this and Hamaguchi was immediately like, yo, so check this out. We learned a lot from
from optimizing the game on Steam Deck.
And the game got a Steam Deck patch.
They already were working on the handheld version
of this game in anticipation
that they were gonna make a Switch 2 version.
So, and they also dropped the overall data size.
The game is 50 gigabytes less than it normally is.
So that's a big difference.
The development team is leveraging the knowledge gain
from the optimization of the Steam Deck
while also pushing forward with optimizations
for Switch 2 and working on reducing the size.
As of right now, it's just over like 100 gigabytes and gets pretty close to what FF7
remake is. Remake is a big game. It's like 90 gigs or something like that.
So they said that the amount of optimization that's gone into this has dropped it significantly.
It's around like 100. So that's a big deal. That is one-third less of a game to run the whole
last game. Interestingly enough, you have to start like looking at this other stuff.

I get it run at 1080p monitor or stream. So we have to zoom into it a little bit.

The fuzziness begins. Hand held her docked. This is definitely docked.
This is 100% docked. Funny enough, I already see telltale signs of it being legit.
The particle effects and the hair are all fucked up.
Right? I'm going to be completely honest. There is a whole bunch of grain on hair.
There's grain on shadows down here, there is grain all over the grass.
There is the telltale signs of a game that is running a much lower resolution,
probably something around like a 500p, maybe 540p, and then being upscaled to 1080p.
However, this shit is running on a tablet practically.
However, what it's actually running on is insane.
And when you look at this, this will be closer to how the experience actually is if you're playing it
on a portable. It'll be about this size if you're playing it on portable, dude. That shit's crazy.
It will look so freaking good. It's insane if you're playing it on portable, especially.
So it had me curious. I'm like, dude, we have to go back. I have to go back. I have to go to
all the websites and stuff where people were saying stuff, and people started pulling up
the trailers, saying that specific versions of trailers were not accurately representing
the game. And we are at the point now where it's like, okay, so did Nintendo doctor this
footage of the game in some way, or did Square? Was this shit doctored to look better than
it actually is? Because I think that screenshot is relatively representative of what the final
image is going to be. Yeah, here was a couple more screenshots in the Reset
era thread. Same shot, right? If you zoom in on this, yeah, dude, Cloud's face is
not super legible. Are you expecting like native 4k performance out of it? No,
this looks like a 540p image upscaled to potentially a 1080p. It looks
rough when you look at it on 4k monitor as it should. It actually should. That means it's not
bullshit. The fact that it's still rendering all of this shit and having the image quality that it
does looks insane for the Switch 2. I don't know if you all remembered, but Todd Howard with his
whole ass face came up and was like, hey, we got the best games to show you on this system.

Wu Tai is going to be going through a world war, which is very different than the original.

Like, however, there's ways for it not to feel as insane.
There is ways.
If they just, if Chadley dies, like if you literally lose Chadley and his sister bot,
They, I, that game changes a lot, like a lot, you won't, they literally set it up at the
end of the game.
I mean, most people don't do the entirety of that side quest.
Most people don't go through the entirety of the Chadley side quest because it ends with,
it ends with Gilgamesh.
So the whole point of his side quest is that it eventually boils down that Hojo has been
spying on the party throughout the entire game through Chadley, he still has control of Chadley.
He's making like dark Chadley or some weird shit. He's making like an evil version.
And Chadley starts contemplating the idea of like, what happens when I die? Does the planet accept me?
So he starts saying that himself. And I'm like, Oh my God, dude, there's death flags all over the
place. Holy shit. So I said how funny would it be if this kid that talks more
than any single person in this entire 150 hour game if they make us feel bad
about him dying in the next game? I think that's what they're gonna do. I
think they're gonna try to make chat the relationship we've had with
Chadley somewhat like appreciative in some way. They're gonna try to make you
feel really bad that he's gone. They're going to do their best. I don't know if that's going
to hit for everybody, but I think they're going to try because a big part of the next
game is, I think, going to be exploration. And chat straight up, if that is a part of
the marketing material, we are in the best timeline with this hair in my mouth. We are
in the best timeline. Like, if they start part of the marketing material of the game
in the world and all this shit, if they start using the terms like exploration, like true,
if they start using words like true exploration in their marketing efforts of like exploring
the vastness of this world and everything that it has to offer and secrets. And if they start
using discovery and secrets and all that kind of shit, then, oh dude, Chadley's big dead,
he's gone. And this game is going to be as close to the OG FF seven as possible,
where there is truly missable stuff.
If they start including shit like missable content,
if they start saying things like,
including several things that are missable,

I think at some point at the very end of the game, one of the hardest fights in the game
is in the Benora crater, which will have to be there. The crater that Shinra creates in
Crisis Core, or they like blow a hole in Benora and wipe it off the map. And I think you'll be
able to visit it, but it won't be anything. There'll be nothing there. Imagine if at some point,
very, very, very late in the game. You get a coordinate for some thing and you go dig it up in the Bone Village and it's Genesis is
stored or some shit. Like, whoa, what the hell is this and nobody knows how to use it. Nobody knows anything about it. What if you brought
that sword to the Benora Crater or some shit. And it and it brings up a Genesis like like
crazy like Genova like boss fight similar to how like Weiss sort of is they brought back
Weiss and made him kind of cool even though he's a piece of shit. Imagine if they did
that with Genesis and that's the only little bit you get a Genesis throughout the whole
game. He's a he's a wild ass optional super boss. And you go and you find him from a sword
relic or something that would be fucking amazing. That's the best way that you could do the genesis
shit in my opinion. Bro, imagine that this that's the kind of potential we're talking about here.

the Round final side quest or some shit, the biggest side quest you get. It just makes
sense. It doesn't seem like he's gone by the end of his story. Yeah, he has Excalibur.

the only time, the first time you ever see the character go through that shit is in Advent Children,
where his eyes start changing and shit and he's got the geostigma shit in his arm
and they emulate that again in remake and it happens again in rebirth. You know how cloud,
you know, how cloud kills, you know, how Sephiroth at the beginning of rebirth in the flashback
nearly kills Tifa and like cuts her down and slices her in the blood and all that shit,
that camera angle. That's the exact same camera angles when you're in Gongaga with cloud and
any slices Tifa into the Mako reactor. It's the exact same shots. It's like Tifa falling
back, wide shot, cloud wakes up, oh god, I'm a piece of shit. Like, oh, they're just leading
us on that cloud's going to turn into stuff throughout at some point. Why is that important?

might be kind of fucking spoilery, but they re-release the game. They remade the whole goddamn
thing so that you would know, so that all of that stuff can have an emotional resonance
on you as you play through the remake trilogy.
That's the only reason they do it, because the shit that they have set up for the remake
trilogy is even bigger than the initial presumptions, if not reveals that FF7 offers.

erythenship. It's not there. You don't get it yet. So you have to wait.
So it's like, okay. All right. The end game should be the game turning into OGFF7. I mean,
it could. It definitely could. It's so much more interesting than it is being the exact same shit.
But then we would just be talking about like the biggest conversation we would be having
right now chat would be like, I wonder if Tifa and Scarlet are going to slap each other.
That would be the, I wonder if we're going to fight the Ruby weapon.

But the whole point of there being an avalanche, the whole point of avalanche existing is because
of Rufus.
wants to become the head of Shinra and he organizes a bunch of like anti-Shinra and

attempts that are happening against Rufus' father are because of him and he is trying
to, he is trying to take over this shit. But in that process he's built an entire anti-Shinra
establishment, right, and was manipulated into beginning a world war. Another one.
They will get a good Sephiroth, like a redemption Sephiroth now. I think you're going to get a
Sephiroth that you can be somewhat sympathetic with his goal, the same way you are with Thanos.
