If you return back to neutral, you can call it an assist for free.
So I don't think it removes that, which is good.

it's going to cost a resource, which is the exact same way that it worked before.

team abilities, instead of the generic stuff that everybody has. So it's like, cool. Now,
here's the thing, chat. The true testament, if this shit is going to be cooking,
is using the unique team stuff instead of the generic shit encouraged, right?
Is it actually encouraged? Do I get a bonus if I use the unique assist instead of the generic
assist? Do I get something better? Does it give me more hits in the combo? Does it give me something?
You know, is doing the cool shit encouraged and rewarded? That's the thing that like Tocan
really hasn't done before where it kind of is afraid to. We don't want to encourage people
to have to feel like that they have to learn many characters, which is where most of
of the disconnect was for me personally outside of like, Oh, combos aren't long enough. Like
I didn't really feel that man. Combos were boring. That sometimes went long enough. They
were just uninteresting. And you really weren't encouraged as a player to discover crazy different
things because they they were so good. They did so much damage. So that's what I want.
Like from a game design perspective, I like fighting games that encourage me to go
for something more. Like there's something more to strive for the something more
to go for it. But yeah, I mean, this awareness just based on all of this dude, big deal makes
me very happy. It's all I got to say. It's a big deal and it makes me very happy.

The only reason I want to make a quick yap about Neo3 is because I probably won't have the availability to turn this into a big play through on YouTube
Because the game is very lengthy and it's kind of hard to to judge how your progress is
I don't I don't know if I want to put up an Elden Ring in length sort of game right now up on the channel in terms of like video format
but I
I want to talk about and investigate why I think this game is doing it for me so much.
Even though we've kind of been doing that the last many times we've been playing the game.
So I really enjoyed Neo1. Like actually liked it. And
Neo2 I tried several points to get into. Just did my best to try to like, oh yeah,
I want to enjoy as much of Neo2 as I did Neo1, so I think I tried like two or three times
to get into Neo2 from the betas to its eventual release and stuff, and for some reason like
the formula, it was a better game. Like combat was better, things were better, but something about
like the familiarity of the formula just didn't get me. It was like, ah, okay. Like I was
definitely feeling that like key recovery early on in the same way that Nio one was very rough man
like it was like I kind of need to like cram all of my stats into key recovery because
you just have no stamina you could like dodge once or twice before you could even like attack
and that was like brutal it was like man okay so it was it wasn't until like new game plus and
in the later playthroughs, where this became much better.
And it was like, oh yeah, like this is,
oh this is actually, I can actually sort of play the game now.
So that was always like, I think that was the reason
why they did what they did here,
where they solved that problem in the O3.
And that's with dual classes, right?
The Samurai class specifically has like a Sekiro parry.
So they kind of take a little bit of what Wollong had,
which was a Sekiro sort of parry game,
and also Lies of P and directly build it into gameplay.
And that benefits you in a variety of ways.
It actually like decreases the overall top stamina
of bosses and shit, which is pretty cool.
And then they were also like,
A, so we're also going to make it so that
you don't have any way to clear key anymore.
You can't clear corruption,
but you have a lot more mobility to work with
just in general like Ninja just has way more movement and mobility just way less damage overall.
So I think this was like, this is a pretty dynamic gameplay choice to solve for both because yeah, you can play through the entirety of this game as the samurai or as the ninja if you want.
And to be real, I kind of played the majority of Neo one as a ninja and I really, I really liked it, but I also just wanted to change things up constantly.
So to me, I don't find myself specifically sticking to one class when I'm engaging with enemies
I am constantly mixing between the two all the time
And I think it's actually fun and then the game gives you reasons to do it
Like you get huge buffs if you stand switch multiple times throughout a fight. I'm like wow
This is really cool. And I mean
Not to mention the fact that like one of the biggest issues that neo one had was that its level design was like
Like, it was pretty barren.
How you engaged with that game was not,
it was mostly like combat dynamics.
And I still give the game like a ridiculous amount of credit.
The combat in Neo, I was like,
oh, this is just way better than Souls games.
Like combat wise, way better than Souls games.
And it was because you felt the DNA of like action games.
You felt the DNA of like Ninja Gaiden here
to a certain degree.
So that it just got polished and more functional
as time has gone on.
Neo2 like really led into that. So having access to like a ridiculous amount of weapons that you can at any time
and then they give the player the ability to do this, you can now go in and respect at any moment.
If I want to sit here and be like, well, I don't like what I'm doing right now.
I'm gonna change the way I play the game. You can just respect at any point in the entire game,
which is crazy to me, dude. So that leaves, that that takes away a little bit of agency to the commitment.
But at the same point, it does give way more freedom in a much longer game where you're
going to have to invest and figure out what you want to do and then maybe you don't like
it and then you have to commit to it like that sucks, you know?
That actually kind of sucks.
The other aspect of the game that I think is honestly brilliant is that yes, they elden
rung Nio.
And what do you mean by that?
Well obviously it isn't an open world and a giant world the same way that Neo, I'm sorry,
the same way that Elden Ring is.
It's not that big.
It's not that interconnected.
These are just really big zones.
And what I dig about it is that in the same way the only way that Elden Ring was able
to do that, the only way they were able to Elden Rung that shit was because Elden
Elden Ring picked up on what effectively was like 10 plus years of game design and enemy
development that FromSoft had been making.
So Elden Ring, as we were looking at it, were like, this is pretty much just FromSoft
All-Stars, dude.
Like a lot of enemies in this game are from other games, and they're movesets and things
like that.
These characters, not all of them by any means, but the way a lot of that game
operates and functions is pretty much like FromSoft All-Stars.
So they just stuck like all the stuff they had been making for so long throughout this
entire world and just littered with it, which is why there's a lot of blood-burning-ass
elements all over the place.
There's a lot of Dark Souls 3 sort of stuff in certain areas without being, it's kind
of like tongue-in-cheek.
It's not directly, but it's very influenced.
So this game did the same thing because at this point, since 2017 when I last beat
Neo1, they've made Neo, they've made Neo2, they've made WoLong, they have made
Strangers in Paradise, they have made Rise of the Ronin,
five goddamn games, and now they've made Neo3.
So these dudes have been cooking.
Like there's been a lot of games that have been out there
and not every single thing is representative,
but the only way they are able to do that
to actually populate a massive map, a massive world,
this goes across multiple maps, not too much of a spoiler,
is to utilize some of that stuff,
to utilize some assets,
especially things from Neo1 and 2.
And yeah, I have thought some bosses that are like, this is a Neo one boss.
Like this is this is a different Neo one boss.
So what does that allow?
It just allows the developers to fix the biggest problem with Neo,
which was the extremely dry level design level design.
And you still get Neo levels.
Don't get me wrong.
When you go to these eventual big like outlooks and things like that,
like these big encampments, you visit them like they are no joke.

gives you the the the from soft vista of like now get in there and start figuring it out.

Genuinely love that shit man, and every single time I've gotten to a new like dungeon of the game

it is, but this game is easier than previous Nios in the exact same way that Elden Ring
could be easier than previous FromSoft games. Because previous FromSoft games and also previous
Nios are pretty linear. Like how you move forward for the most part is sort of controlled. Like
it's a relatively, it's a wide linear progression, but you're eventually going to have to make
your way through and do all these things. In Elden Ring and all this stuff, like this game
allows you to tackle its world and to go into a variety of places and just you can come back here, right?
You're allowed to move in meander and take care of a whole bunch of bosses and get a bunch of new skills and do all
This stuff you can do that
So it's almost like it's as hard as you want it to be and Elden Ring is that way like

Elden Ring was really hard on my playthrough too

I did Beat Strangers in Paradise, but it's like, they were cumbersome.
There were things in it outside of just engaging with enemies that was legit cumbersome.
And most of those cumbersome elements have been figured out here.
And that's like menuing.
That's like loot and asset management.
like leveling up and all that kind of stuff. You commit to something that sort of sucked,
you know? The nice part is that this game is like extremely accessible for new players
while being as difficult as you want it to be. Like, we've run into plenty of ridiculously
hard shit so far that takes several times to fight stuff. Because to me, like, I had
my favorite Neo game of all time and it didn't end up being Neo 1. That ended up
being Kazan. Kazan was a Souls-like, but it was much more a Neo-like than being
a souls like and now it's like oh yeah I think this is an overall better game even
than Kazan I like the combat and Kazan way more but the level design and exploration
and everything of that aspect finding cool weird shit in the world man it just feels
great it's so weird to have a Neo game now where like doing everything but combat doesn't
feel like lame. It actually is fun. It's actually super fun. So don't take my word for it. Download
the demo. It's it's expensive gig-wise, but the progress carries over and I'm not going to try to
convince you to buy a $70 game or something like that or a $60 game. All I'm saying is, uh,
this shit seems really good, right? As of right now, I'm really impressed. And I've just been
sort of waiting for my opportunity to jump in and play this shit some more.
