Three by six news. Yeah, there was a lot more interviews that happened for Street Fighter six over the past 24 hours. A lot of stuff came out.
Um, pretty nuts, pretty nuts, a lot of things, man, a whole bunch of things, hate or alert.
Um, nah, I'm not even following much of what's going on with baseball.
Uh, anyway, we gave it to play to an SCF, can you talk about? So I think, yeah, I'm going to
check out Thresh tonight. I want to check out 2x scale really bad. Um, I want to see if it,
I wanted to get back in and remind myself of the control scheme, see how it works.
What can I talk about from SGF before we get into Street Fighter stuff? So the plan tonight is to
cover the Street Fighter stuff and to be updated on that because there's even an update from the
stuff that I talked about yesterday. While also I got a sponsored stream for Lost Castle 2,
which is like a roguelike beat him up that just entered 1.0 or is about to enter 1.0 in like a
couple days and outside of that it's very castle crashers like it's got that kind of style and
outside of that yeah I just got to play more I want to play more 2x ko I just want to see
how it vibes with me you know before we start doing stuff before I started debating which fighting
game I want to play oh starfox demo I might check that out tonight if things don't go particularly
well with with 2xko if I don't I think I'll probably like the character but if
not I'll maybe check out the Sarfax demo mortal shell 2 as well she's dude so
much stuff cellar blade never heard of it how was the mortal shell to beta
can I talk about my game of the show hold on a second chat and I even discuss

Wow, okay. So my favorite game at SGF this year was Alien Isolation 2. And we can actually
talk about it. Once in terms of games that I actually got to play, yeah, Alien Isolation
2. It was great. It was great. I played like the very beginning of the game, like the very
beginning. And I was shocked that it's actually playable, that it's like way
further along than we thought. But the opening chapter, the tone, the characters,
the setup, you know how it, here's pretty much the only impression I can give you.
You know how in Alien Isolation 1 takes a long time? Like it pretty much has the
establishment of an alien or aliens movie where it takes a long time to get
going in for things to happen. And it's like pretty, it's actually, it doesn't do a great job at
like beginning that process. When it when it eventually happens and the infirmary hits,
that game becomes balls to the wall bonkers, just crazy. So there's a lot of build up and it
isn't the best build up. But when the game eventually hits, Alien Isolation one was wonderful.
So I got to play Alien Isolation 2. And right out the bat, it's great. Right out the bat. We
got to play like just the prologue of the game. Big introduction to a very outside, an outside
environment. And it's, it is so, it's alien, right? But it is so hostile and so like aliens coded,
like very LV426. Yeah, can I talk about... there is b-roll, hold on a second, maybe I can just grab it
really quick. Hold on. It is an LV426, it's actually the planet, and I don't think this is embargoed,
I hope it's not. It's actually the planet that the Sevastopol, whatever the station is called,
in Alien Isolation 1. It's the planet that it crashes onto. It's like almost like a gas giant,
but it's got ground to it. And there is a few, there's like a survey team or something full
of three people that is driving around and yeah like a huge thing like blasts the environment
in front of them and um yeah it's the remnants of the ship so it had a very cool opening dude
like a very like wow this is this is sick um
welcome back to the stage of history oh i've downloaded it four times jesus christ my god
uh there we go it's a download in a few minutes so it'll give me some gameplay um
some extra gameplay to look at did ign post gameplay maybe i can just use that let me check

This environment was great.
This, like, exterior environment.
Oh, so, like, you are straight up in the environment from the first time you've ever
the first game. Like you are going around and investigating the same hallways and locations
as the first game, but it's the ship that crashed. So everything's like destroyed, right?
The entire process of like getting to the ship, this environment
was so goddamn cool. Like the sound, the atmosphere, everything about this opening area
was so sick dude I just I absolutely looked incredible it just looked amazing
we didn't have any guns we didn't really have much to work with but like and it
was mostly like a walk-in and look-in situation until you actually have to
avoid the alien again but yeah dude the alien got me like a few real good times
where it's like I'm definitely safe where I'm at right now and I turn around and
that bitch is right behind me and I'm like holy shit. Oh my god, like if you it definitely
felt like if you stay in the same spot for too long, if you just like wait and stay in
the spot for too long, it will find you. It eventually finds its way to you and I was
like in a duct in a duct in a duct and I was like I'll be fine in here and I turned around
and that shit got me I was like what the fuck like that was nuts.
Envers and broken trees to watch a huge yeah, this shit was amazing
It's clearly punched through the atmosphere and half buried itself in the planet's surface
This shit this shit was so cool
So yeah, my mind it ended up being like it wasn't
Not a ton of stuff was playable and I didn't play control
I think control ended up getting game of the year for most folks at at SGF
But I just didn't have an appointment for it. Unfortunately. I'm looking forward to eventually playing it
But, man, I really, really, really enjoyed Alien Isolation 2.
I was like, oh, I'm ready for this.
This shit is good.
Like, this shit is going to be real good.
So, yeah, I can't wait.
Whenever it comes out, I can't wait.
I don't know if control, I mean, people are saying control was very good.
But I just have not had a chance to play it myself, you know?
So, my two favorite games that I played at the show was Alien Isolation 2.
and probably Aliens Fire Team 2. Like, they were my two favorite games that I played because a lot
of other stuff I've been playing for years, you know, different versions of for like a very long
time, but I had never played Alien Isolation 2 and I never played Aliens Fire Team 2 and both of
them are like, damn, these are good. Like, the Alien Sweep at Summer Game Fest was very weird.
So, yeah. I mean, if Crazy Taxi and Virtual Fighter was playable, like, I might be thinking,
I might be singing a different tune right now, but they weren't, so I can only discuss it so much.
We got a quick sponsored stream in a couple of minutes, and just over like 10-15 minutes,
for Lost Castle 2, so we're going to play that for a bit. But before we do that, before we jump
into the bonkers-ness, that is Post Summer Games Fest World, a post Final Fantasy 7,
and Tifa is in Street Fighter Universe.

And we've gotten a lot more clarification

And yeah, you know, all those things we've been talking about
were like, is this the end of Street Fighter 6?
Is this the end of World Tour in total?
Is, are they gonna do it later?
Like, what is going on?
Street Fighter 6 might be going on for a very long time.

So let's go down.

So the initial conversation for Tifa
actually began like three years ago.
So near the launch of the game,
We had a mutual friend who works at Square,
who was a big fan of Street Fighter 6.
We've been discussing about what we could do
to collaborate somehow, and then eventually,
those conversations led to what about a potential guest
character from one of their IPs or series.
So that was a long time ago.
And around that time, Final Fantasy Remake series
was very active and looking at the character background
on the character like Tifa.
It's got a heavy martial arts style.
We thought it would be perfect for Street Fighter 6,
So it kind of organically led to that happening.
So as a reminder, Chad, games don't make themselves
and they take a long time.
Things take a hell of a long time.
And Tifa has been in the books for quite some time,
even before Tekken 7, I'm sorry, Tekken 8,
was even out as a game.
So this has been in the books for quite some time.
And if we go down a little bit more,
some clarification on Tifa.
When designing the character, 4-3-5-6, a lot of reference
materials provided from FF-17 from the Capcom designers
was created to implement into the game.
A lot of things were taken into consideration
like the exact durations that are required for,
as an example, when a punch or a kick lands.
Ultimately, that gets reviewed by the team at Square,
including Nomura-san, which we did talk about as well,
from the FF-17.
And then once that's approved, it
goes up to the developers at the Capcom side
to get implemented into the game.
Normal stuff, you know?
So, a big question is that Street Fighter 6 has a long way to go to like the 10 million unit milestone.
But Capcom sounds pretty happy with where things currently are with the game.
I mean, it has record-breaking numbers, it's got even more players than usual, a lot of stuff, right?
So, it seems like Street Fighter 7 is not actually going to be happening anytime soon.
Like, the presumption of like, this is definitely been very weird the way this current state of Street Fighter 6,
it's been pretty weird. So what is happening? Does it mean that Street Fighter 7 is around the
corner? Are they not going to be supporting it for very long? We genuinely didn't know when it
went to the next season. So they personally want Street Fighter 5, Street Fighter 6 to be running
and operating for as long as possible. When we initially kicked off the project, our internal
goal was to hit like a 10-year lifecycle. But that's why we're working so hard to improve the
quality of the game and make sure that the characters we introduce are attractive and appealing.
So, that is a stark contrast compared to where we're currently at, my dude.
Like what we were currently thinking right before this, that's a long time.
Like we're at the three-year mark right now, dude.
We're going to triple that and add another year.
Here's the thing.
I feel like this is their desire, right?
They want to be able to do this.
the goal to have a game that lasts like almost a decade. That's the goal. Is it the plan?
Is it what they what they are currently scheduled to do? Probably not. But you know, all things
considered the amount of new players, the amount of existing players, the amount of people
buying content, the amount of things people just purchase overall as the game continues
will ultimately be the deciding factor.
That's just the way it goes.

So yeah, it's like, they would like that.
It feels like it feels like that'd be cool.
It also feels like in order to have the game
be supported for that long,
if they want to have an elongated support period,
maybe doing world tour just wasn't the best bet.
I think we're gonna get some clarification on that
and the stuff that they talked about in the near future.
But anyway, yeah, I can see a lot of other quality of life
things happening to the game over time,
including I would not be surprised if it also
includes big balance changes and mechanical adjustment.
I would not be surprised.
So and for the question of Street Fighter 7,
that's not something we're really making or really
thinking about right now.
We're seeing a lot of new players coming into the game that
want to continue catering to that and want
to continue catering to that audience.
So Street Fighter 6 and maintaining its longevity
the main focus. That is, that's pretty big. They tease that there's a lot that they want to do for
Street Fighter 6, but won't draw on what exactly. There's stuff that I'm thinking, but I don't want
to spoil the fun for everybody. So the game, I'm trying to find the other quotes, but there were
some recent other quotes that we're talking about the new girl, the first character in DLC Packet
Season 4, about her being sort of like the new protagonist. Yeah, Yasmin, sorry, I always forget
her name. I got the new Virtual Fighter characters and the new Street Fighter characters names in my
head. And then, like, that character seems to be catered to the new hero character of the game.
game. So it's like, oh, interesting. So it's like, we're like sort of passing the baton
of Luke in some way. If anybody has that article, hit me up because that also had some pretty
interesting shit in it. You thought it was going to be Bosch. Apparently, no, Bosch is
like, they were always planning on Bosch being playable. There was also discussions that,
hey, you know what? Was it the Femitsu interview? Hold on a second, I got to check it out. They
We were also mentioning that this season is kind of unique where it's full of three brand
new playable characters to Street Fighter 6, technically, and one brand new guest character.
So all technically new characters, Bosch being an unplayable character before.
And they said that it was consistently their intention to add new characters to Street
Fighter 6, and the only new character that they've added to the game so far, post-launch,
been Aki. And we made this observation a bit before all this information came out, or it's like,
okay, yeah, I mean, I think they're allowed to have a couple new ones. And it kind of feels
that way that it's like, yeah, that makes sense. But at the same point, they know a lot of people
are like, frothing for the Makodos and the Dudley's and the Sakura's and all that kind of stuff,
that there is a feverish demand to bring back a lot of other characters that people want to see
in Street Fighter that were not in maybe even Street Fighter IV, Street Fighter V, anything
like that. So it's like, yeah, that's completely fair. But at the same point, reminding that like,
we haven't actually added many new characters. Like it's been a whole bunch of returning characters
from multiple seasons now. So it's like fair. A crazy thing was that they also have to pay
attention to their audience and they were specifically discussing that the audience
for Street Fighter 6, the people that are actively playing and buying and engaging with this game
currently, is not the typical or the atypical 30 to 40 year old which usually is where the majority
of fighting game audiences tend to skew. They tend to go in an unc direction because it's sort of an
an unct genre. They pretty much exclaimed that like they have a big audience of like 15 to about
like mid 20s like something around there and which is an extremely young demographic for a
fighting game like extreme especially for a fighting like a big legacy Street Fighter 6 level
fighting game. So I think that mostly contributes to like what they what they've done with the
the efforts of this game, like they've really gotten,
they've really gotten control of a brand new audience
for Street Fighter for a brand new generation.
They've really done it.
So in what region though?
I mean, I don't think they care, like here's,
here's the reality of the situation.
Numbers are numbers, right?
Like the amount of people engaging and playing with it
is an important, is the most important thing.
What's not important is where they're coming from.
Like to be completely honest, they're a global company.
They're looking for anything.
They want people to come from anywhere.
You know what I mean?
And from a developer perspective,
you cannot ignore the largest contributing demographic
or side of your audience.
And if that big side of the audience
is a whole bunch of like youngins that are playing the game
that have a chance to buy new games,
like that's exciting, dude.
That's hard to do as a fighting game, like, holy shit, that's really tough.
I mean, do we want to feel like we're being catered to all the time?
Yeah, I think we do, because the majority of Capcom games have been directly catering
to a global, global slash western audience for quite some time.
In fact, the majority of Japanese publishers and developers,
the biggest audience for the majority of these games is the West.
Like, it is usually the West in Tekken situation is Europe, right?
Like, really big.
like they just represent the biggest side. So that was probably the plan. You know, I would argue
that was probably the plan to create a global game that everyone can get into. And to be honest,
they did that. They're up like what, seven million copies sold in three years, which is,
these guys are going to be breaking 10 million, easy. Like this is going to be a 10 million
units sold Capcom fighting. That shit hasn't happened in forever. I think they have to,
they have to follow what makes sense, you know? Do I, will I still be, be griping about things that
like of shakeups and things like that? Like I've been saying for practically a couple years now.

way. You know, does it mean that it's a game specifically for Japan only? Dude, I don't think
only Japan is playing this shit. Like, I think this game is engaging a lot of people. And it's

Given this background, our aim was to prize and delight
everyone in the community.
That's when we decided to use Indian and Filipino nationalities
for new characters.

about what specific martial arts they should use
and what kind of characters they should become.

Bosh is finally going to be a playable character. It's a hot topic, but the development team

like they're not catering to us and we're not getting our like Super Street Fighter 6, I feel

People just want like a reevaluation of the game mechanics.

live on. It's just going to live on through its characters. We're probably going to see future

see a Capcom fighting game ecosystem. I think that's what I would like. I want to see an ecosystem
that supports not just Street Fighter 6 or a battlehub that doesn't support Street Fighter

I think there's really cool opportunities for Street Fighter to effectively have like
almost a multi-game hub that supports multiple things.
Like that would be mad cool, dude, if there was like a lot of different fighting games
at Capcom that you could play actively at the same time.
So you got to be thinking that like behind them just supporting Street Fighter 6, there's
probably other things that they're working on in the background right now. Whether or not that's
CVS3, Marvel vs Capcom, 6-7, you know, anything like that. Whatever that don't do, Darkstalkers,
we're just gonna do, we're just gonna make Project Justice again, you know, any of that kind of stuff.
Like, whatever the hell it is, I'm curious if they're trying to create like an ecosystem because
is effectively adding a ton of single-player content forever just might not have the stability
they were looking for, you know.
So anyway, I'm just happy to see that Capcom Fighting Games are back.
And once again, if one Capcom Fighting Game is doing so good, that means that there can
be a support system for future games.
