I think the healing rotation will be fun.

Shadow and PvE seems way better now since they made Shadowform make it so you cost 50,

So Mind Blast, Shadow Warpane, Mind Flay, and Devouring Plague gives you like a somewhat interesting rotation.
Plus you still have like the hybrid nature about things, right? With like Vampiric and Brace, which is cool.

When you say Rester Shaman is better as a healer, so in terms of what's gonna actually
be good at end game, I don't think anybody knows, and if anyone tries to tell you they
know, they're probably just click baiting you.
We don't really know how things are gonna look when scaled up at level 60, but I will
say this.
The goal and objective of Blizzard is to make it so that every class, um, there's a reason
to invite every class to a raid, right?
So like the optimal group composition should be like, even if shamans aren't the best
healers, we need them for some other utility that they provide.
Even if priests aren't the best healers, we bring them for some other utility they
provide.
So that's kind of the goal that Blizzard's trying to reach with this project.

No, I don't like healing too much like I've done healing here and there but I just don't like have as much fun healing as I do in
like any other role. I like DPS the most and tank is actually pretty fun too. I've learned
to tank like recently, but healing, like I've done it bro, but I just don't have as much
fun doing it. I don't like that they seem to have forgot about engineering, they buffed
everything else, but in she seems just bad. I see it like I don't think I like
agree here. So I think the goal is let's buff everything else up to where
engineering was already. Engineering was the profession that everyone needed to
be right or like most players win in hardcore and then PvP and PvE I guess
it depends on what you're doing but even a PvE you would use
engineering a lot for like sappers and stuff so I guess my point is like the
idea isn't to just give everything new stuff it's to bring up everything to the
level that you want it without power creep so what I mean by power creep is
say you buff engineering and engineering was already the strongest then you have
to buff everything up past where engineering was and now you have a game
that's just getting crazy, similar to like a warrior, like warrior is in my mind the class design
that makes the most sense out of any class in vanilla wow, in terms of like how it is played
you have multiple buttons to press you have sundar, heroic strike, bloodthirst, whirlwind,
right I'm not even talking about like teaclap and shouts you know for like defensive usage
but like for pure damage rotational abilities it's like dynamic and fun and exciting but
Warriors were one of the few that actually had a fun rotation.
So the goal for this game, in my opinion,
would be something along the lines
like bring everything up to like how warriors already felt,
right?
Cause warriors felt so good to play,
but like Pallies didn't, you know, or Warlocks didn't.
Warlocks were one button, right?
So bring up like a Warlock or a Paladin
to press as many buttons as a warrior has to
so that at least it's dynamic.
But that doesn't mean that Warrior needs, you know, five new buttons as well.
Because then if you add more to Warrior when it was already the target performance, then
all of a sudden now you're creeping up the game again.

When you cast it again, you also only do 75-84 damage.

and the third hits the same, and the fourth hits the same.

So if nothing changed with Arcane Blast, like the way in which you play it is
you just do four arcane blasts and you would always use missile barrage and you'd have
it like almost every time or you just use an unpropped missiles or you could do some like
weird hybrid thing but you always would just do four arcane blast missiles four arcane
blast missiles because you would never want to keep spamming arcane blasts at four stacks
ever. So you just four arcane blast missile four arcane blast missile which I don't think
is that good of design? I don't know if I like that. I think the arcane blast from like

of a retail mentality to think every single spec has to be viable for
dungeons every single spec has to be viable for duels every single spec has
to be viable for raids and like you can't really expect that to be the
case like this is classic well right um having said that would it be nice if fire could be viable
like yeah that'd be sick but it's almost like it would be more of a cool addition if they could do
it but i i don't even want to necessarily expect every mage spec to be viable across all different
versions of the game that's like that's not even like fair to expect that much
But why not the reason why not is because if you want every spec in the game to be good at every single thing
Then you're homogenizing all your specs because now all of a sudden like
like fireworks and PV or frost works in PVP because it has a lot of
Instant cast like Iceland's or conical and a lot of slows
So you can get a lot of damage off and a lot of slows and you have a lot of defensives
Like arcane might or like fire might not work as well because you need to like cast fireball
And you can't really cast fireball in PVP because you'll just get owned
You know you have to do more instant cast so it's like okay
Well, what if we gave fire more?
Defensives and slows an instant cast. Well, it's like well now you're homogenizing it just for the sake of fire being viable
Instead of creating a fun and dynamic game where different specs are good in different areas
And that's part of the identity of Classic WoW in the first place, is that you could have
specs that work really well in one thing and specs that work really well in another, and
kind of expecting every spec to be able to perform at all different levels is more of
a modern design way of thinking.

than mine. I lose five stamina and I lose spirit. No, it's only two damage. No, I think
I like mine. I thought it would be great in raids. So yeah, when you're max level and
you get, I don't know how much crit you can get at max level, say you get like 30%
crit at max level. This talent makes perfect sense. It's like, okay, great, 30% crit or
whatever. Every third attack you're creating, there's no world buff. So maybe it doesn't
get that high. Maybe it's 25 or something. I don't know, 24, but even at like 25% crit,
this makes sense. But I guess my point is while leveling, when your crit is closer
10 this is such a dead talent all the way to 60 that's the point

Okay.
And while leveling up my Majest Comprehension skill, which allows us to decipher these mysterious scrolls,
I received a message from a good friend of mine.
Shine's lights.

Happy birthday, big fella.
The previous day, he had discovered something absolutely insane.
While deciphering Skrulls as a mage, he found a rare item called Skrull of the Savor.
And the tooltip said,
Use on Blade of Silver Lane to create a powerful weapon.
And immediately, we had the same question.
Where in the world have we heard that name before?
Oh, I'm sure some of you know exactly where we went looking. Silver Lane Seal, yeah. Shadow
Van Keep. Yeah. For anyone who played Classic Wow, the name Silver Lane should sound very familiar.
More specifically, Silver Lane's Family Seal. Right, yeah. The ring drop from Baron Silver Lane
and Shadow Van Keep and was one of the most desirable pieces of early game gear in Classic.
So when we saw Blade of Silver Lane mentioned in this mysterious scroll, we had a pretty obvious place to start.
Yeah, definitely.
There was just one problem. The tooltip didn't tell us where the sword was. It only said use on Blade of Silver Lane to create a powerful weapon.
So it's probably just a new rare drop, right?
So we decided to assume the most obvious possibility.
Yeah.
Maybe the sword was somewhere inside Shadowfang Keep. And if it was, we were going to find it.
We put together a group of level 20 players and headed into one of the most challenging dungeons currently available to us.
Our goal was simple.
Clear the entire dungeon.
We killed every boss.
We searched every-
They didn't draw from that one, huh?
We checked the terrain.
We looked for anything that could be interacted with to see if we could find the sword.
And after clearing the entire dungeon, nothing.
No hidden weapon.
No clickable object.
No obvious quest.
Nothing at this point. We started wondering if we had completely misunderstood the tooltip
Maybe the blade of silver lane wasn't actually inside Shadowfang keep wait. Hold on am I crazy?
I haven't seen this video yet. Am I crazy to assume? It's just a rare drop from the second boss
It drops the ring from the silver lane dude. It's just like a 5% drop chance like like what you just have to reset over and over and over
Maybe it was somewhere in the open. It's like the most obvious part of a quest
We hadn't discovered yet or maybe we were just wasting our time or maybe there was a red job
We hadn't tried there in Silver Lane's loot table. Yeah, so in the name of science
I convinced my guild to run shadow fiend keep again and again and again
Yep, we cleared the dungeon over and over hoping that somehow this mysterious weapon was sitting on Silver Lane's loot table
after the fifth attempt we decided to take a break and
And during that break, I figured, why not keep deciphering scrolls?
Maybe I could get my own scroll of the saber and continue investigating.
Yeah, we might have to do this ourselves here soon, guys.
Yes, absolutely.
If this thing, this, I mean, if this is what I think it is.
So I started opening 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 110, and then on my
119 scroll, it happened.
Dude, I got it!
The scroll of the saber.
Okay, say it.
Now we have one more reason
to figure out exactly what this thing was connected to.
So I started checking everywhere that I could think of.
Discord, Reddit, private messages.
I was hoping that anyone else might have been
on the same step and could help me out.
And then I found the answer.
Shine's lights had done it.
He had become the first person we knew of
to actually obtain the weapon.
Layed of Silver Lane.
Our theory was correct.
The weapon really did drop off of Bear and Silver Lane.
Yeah, I mean, yeah.
And that matter was one thing left to do,
get back into Shadowfang Keep.
I immediately got back into the game,
rounded up the group,
and we headed back into Shadowfang Keep.
Reset, kill Silver Lane.
Reset, kill Silver Lane.
Over and over and over again,
between running to the dungeon and all of the resets.
That's probably our lives too, guys.
but now we knew the weapon actually existed.
So we weren't searching anymore.
We were hunting.
And finally, on my 12th reset, this happened.
One of, if not the lowest damage class in the game.
Besides AoE.
And even then,
let's see what you're saying, dude.
The weapon we had been looking for.
And honestly, that was already an incredible discovery.
But then we use the Scroll of the Saber
and combine it with Blade of Silver Lane.
Bro, I love this.
That's so cool.
It reminds me of like oblivion or something.
Like enchanting a sword is just such a cool thing
to turn a sword into a different kind of a sword.
Like to get a straw, like to use a scroll on a sword,
like it's just awesome.
It's so cool.
And there it was.
And this brand new weapon was called Cold Flame Saber.
Yeah, we're far off.
And it's effect reads.
Level 21, we can't even test it, Pro!
Clip, melee attacks deal 98 additional fire damage
against frozen targets.
At first glance, you might think,
all right, that's interesting.
Maybe it's just a weird flavor effect
on an otherwise decent weapon,
but then you start asking the important questions.
How do we freeze the target?
Frostbite, Frostnova, something else?
And then I remembered something.
There's a talent further down the frost tree that we don't have in classic.
Fingers of Frost.
For anyone who plays Wrath of the Lich King, you know exactly where this is going.
Fingers of Frost became one of the defining mechanics of Frostmage, and allowed your
spells to trait certain targets as though they were frozen.
And suddenly, that strange effect on Coldflame Saber became a lot more interesting because
now we had a potential way to activate it.
But things got even crazier.
Well a few mage friends and I were messaging back and forth about the weapon.
Okay hold on, is he thinking that the proc from Cold Flame is going to work with fingers?
Because fingers reads treats your next spell cast.
So I don't think it'll work unless I'm trolling, but it literally says spell cast.
So I don't think the equipped melee attack from Cold Flame is going to work.
One of them discovered something that could potentially make this weapon even more powerful.
The on hit damage appeared to scale with Spell Power.
And if our testing is correct, we're looking at something in the neighborhood of 200% Spell
Power Scaling.
Now think about what that means.
A level 21 weapon with a 2 second attack speed that can deal an additional 98 fire
damage against frozen targets.
Potentially scaling with Spell Power.
And potentially interacting with fingers crossed.
Well, we're not done because do you remember those scrolls?
We've been deciphering the ones that allow you to imbue weapons with different effects
We remembered one in particular
Scroll of imbue. Yeah, the scroll allows you to imbue a dagger with an effect that gives your attacks a chance to freeze the target
When you hit them and that's when the pieces really start coming together
We remembered something else win fury weapon and suddenly this wasn't just an age weapon anymore
This started sounding like something completely different. Let's put everything together
We have a low-level weapon with a two-second attack speed
We have an effect that can deal 98 additional fire damage against frozen targets. We have potential spell power scaling
We have fingers of frost which can allow us to treat targets frozen
We have shatter which dramatically increases our spell critical chance against frozen targets
We have weapon and viewing scrolls.
Well look, look, I love this guy.
I love where his head's at.
I love the enthusiasm.
But this is like pure cope, right?
Like, I mean, guys, I mean,
okay, oh yeah, this is only daggers too.
This is a sword.
So you can't use impugn ice knife.
Fingers of frost isn't gonna work on cold flame saber.
Coldflame Saber will be interesting as a fun flavor item, so we just did Whelan Caverns
and a Cloak dropped, and it said increases swim speed by 33, and slows movement speed
by 25.
And it's cool, it's a cool flavor item because you get to swim faster and walk
slower.
Right?
Sick.
I think that's what this is.
This isn't like a giant nod towards a battle mage.
This is like a really cool fun item that's awesome to mess around with, but I don't think
this means Blizzard is going to support a melee battle mage playstyle.
I really don't think that's what this is.
It's just a fun item because we're playing Classic WoW, which by the way, this item
looks really, really, really, really, really fun.
But I do love this guy's enthusiasm, like I do love it.
potentially gives additional effects. We have wind fury weapon and we potentially have ways of
freezing targets through weapon attacks. So what does this start to sound like? A traditional frost
mage? Not exactly. It starts sounding an awful lot like a battle mage. This is where things get really
interesting because we see and hints that WoW Forever may have something completely new waiting
for us and so far mage hasn't suddenly received some completely new identity through its existing
countries. So what if that's intentional? What if Blizzard or the developers behind
Wild Forever are keeping Mages' traditional classic identity intact while introducing a brand new way to
play the class? What if Battle... I mean bro, what if they gave Mages like an actual
like an actual attack that you could do in a Shatter Combo like off a GCDC like Frostbolt
Iceland's Melee and like you did like a melee Shatter combo like it could be really cool and really fun, but I
Mean even I'm thinking that's some for like that's some pretty heavy copium, right? Like it would be cool, but it's
What if this is the beginning of a completely new mage playstyle imagine being able to fight in melee as a mage
Not just as a gimmick, but as an actual build
Maybe you equip a one-handed sword
Maybe you pair it with a dagger.
Maybe you use NPU ice knife to give your attacks a chance to freeze your target.
Dude, there we have so many issues here.
Do you want me to start listing the issues because then I start sounding like a hater?

You're a glass cannon.
You need the kite or you're going to die.
Period.

So there's one.
You don't, if you get in close to melee range against most targets, you're
dead.
So like, okay, that's the biggest problem.
That's just PVP.
PVE
Fingers a frost won't work on it because it's not a spell cast so you need to actually Nova Nova's don't work on bosses
So this wouldn't actually work on a boss
Crap now the whole spec is broken because you can't freeze a boss. Ah shoot PVE and PVP don't work
Okay, sorry. Let's just let's just let this guy keep dreaming. Come on. Let's I'm not I don't want to hate
This is cool. This is really cool. Like maybe it could work, but I just there's so many issues with it
It's just like oh gosh
And then you combine that with cold flame saber to deal massive additional damage against frozen enemies
And suddenly your mage isn't standing 30 yards away casting Frostbolt anymore
You're running directly into melee and that's only one possibility
Because we've already seen other weapon and you scrolls for example
Scroll of Induce Bark. The tooltip says,
imbues a sword with magic for one hour and causes your flame blast
cooldown to reset when you're struck by a melee attack.
Now, what exactly is Flame Blast? True.
We know what Fire Blast is. True. So maybe it's simply a different name
or a typo or maybe it's an ability we haven't seen yet. Probably a typo.
Maybe it's something completely new. We don't know. But the fact that
these scrolls are specifically modifying weapons and giving them effects that interact with
mage abilities is incredibly interesting. And it raises a much bigger possibility.
What if these aren't just random weapons? What if they're pieces of a system?
Imagine a mage that can customize their weapons depending on the situation.
A frost weapon that freezes enemies. A fire weapon that applies some kind of stacking burn
effect. A different weapon that interacts with defensive abilities.
Look, look, there's a way in which Blizzard could do this if they wanted to add a battle
mage. You can do it. What do you need to do? You need to add a talent that makes mages,
melee attacks work from 10 yards. So they're close range, but you could still like attack
dead zoning like a warrior. Like you can't just go toe to toe with a warrior as a
a mage, that's stupid. But you'd have to like make it to where your 40 damage wide attacks,
you could weave in with spells while being in a mid-range 10-yard design. That could
theoretically work. But if you're ever a mage, total to total to warrior, you're just gonna
die, right? So you'd have to build a spec where like you wouldn't want to be 40 yards
because you wouldn't be able to attack, but you wouldn't want to be zero yards
because you would die. So you'd have to make a mid-range spec of like this 10-yard
thing. And that could work. That could work. Um, but you'd have to like, you know, make
auto attacks work from 10 yards. Step one, step two, you'd probably give them like an
actual melee attack, like a frost slice or something or like an arcane slice or whatever
fire, fire slice. I don't know. Um, and then you probably need some more defensive. It's
like, dude, that you would need a lot of cooking. I don't know if classic plus
Or I should I keep saying classic plus. I don't classic forever is the right spot for this, but I actually think
Like season of discovery this would have been like fun and sod like or ascension this would work in like ascension
This is like pretty out there. I actually think it would be fun though

Maybe different imbues create completely different playstyles.
And suddenly, you aren't just playing a mage, you're building your own version of a battle

We don't know that battle mage is actually coming to WoW forever.
This is a theory.
Everything we've discovered so far could ultimately lead somewhere completely different.
But that's what makes this beta so exciting.
We're only th- I mean it's- They're fun flavor items, you know what I mean?
Like they're fun flavor items.
Three days in, and we're already discovering weapons, scrolls, mechanics, new professions,
and interactions that raise questions that we would have never thought to ask in a WoW
classic.
And if this is only what we've discovered during the first few days, what else is
hiding in this game?

cool low-level weapon. Awesome. Or maybe we're looking at the first clue towards an entirely

That looks like forever is making changes that make takeaways from the data from the
new experience.
Curve has gradually climbed up from 60 rather than a series of spikes.
In classic, there are two spikes in experience from 39 to 40 and 59 to 60, these level
matchups, learning mounts, and hitting skills. Okay. Experience table. In forever the spikes,
in required experience no longer exists, instead of falls to gradual quadratic climb per level,
overall experience has also dropped significantly with the biggest reductions between 15 and
30, where the total reduction averages over 40%. This reduction eases in higher levels,
with a 30 to 45 level bracket,
still sees a reduction of over 30.
Overall experience required from one to 60
has dropped by a staggering 26%.
Oh, so okay, so it's not getting nerfed again.
They're saying forever is 26% less experience,
which also might mean they just changed the experience
of quests or mobs or dungeons, et cetera.
This doesn't mean anything.

It's not super hard if you've played as much of a game as I have.
If you haven't gone outside much in the last 20 years, yeah, basically every class you only
have a set amount of like spells, you read the talents and you're like how will these
interact with each other and you can be like fairly certain depending on scaling and how
they do things, what the rotation would kind of look like.
Of course at the end of the day, it just depends on how things are tuned.
For example, like you might think arcane blast times four in the barrage should
be the rotation but what if missiles is just 20 times like I'm just giving a crazy number
like what if missiles is like 20 times stronger than arcane blast then you would never arcane
blast like that wouldn't be the case right you can assume 99% of the time that wouldn't
be the case so under normal assumptions you can come up with like a basic rotation
for every class in the game just by reading the talents in this fall book are you gonna
be like right every time no but most most of the time you can pretty much figure
out just by reading how would you feel about rotation defining spells being
on four to five piece tier sets good yeah like it changes your rotation patch to
patch slightly from tier to tier slightly like good that's what they did in
season of discovery that's what they do I don't actually don't know about like
on private servers but in more modern versions while they do that and saw it
worked really well so yeah yeah I like it
Is AoE farming nerfed? Blizzard slow is nerfed, but AoE farming should still be doable, so we'll see how it works out.
I haven't seen a single Warlock yet, really.
How's Iceland's feeling? It feels pretty underwhelming right now, but we'll see.
